Our news

Well, I'm sure many of you have received our card and have figured out we are expecting. We are very excited, including Ellie. She cannot wait to be a big sister, and asks about the baby quite a bit. When is it going to be June, when can I feel it kick, can we buy it this or that, etc. She told me it is a good thing that her room and the baby's room are connected (by the bathroom) "so when it crys at night, I can go feed it for you, mommy." That could be a slight problem :)
The house is coming along great. We should be moved in on the 29th. Last time we were there, they were painting working on finish work. Hopefully, when we go out there this week, we'll see the floors finished and the light fixtues getting put in. I am dying to get back to my own kitchen. My inlaws have been wonderful, but lets face it, I NEED my own kitchen stuff.
We had the first snowfall of the season, and as you can see, Ellie loved it! She wants it to snow "so much more, so we can have snow ice cream!" She can't wait to get her sled out of storage and try it out. We will have a slight incline so she will be able to sled in our yard.

Gotta go. We are going to a party that starts at 9:00 AM!

Its been awhile

Ok, so its been awhile...

September flew by. We closed on our house (finally!) and got temporarily moved. We went to Disney world for a week, came home and went to Minneapolis for a wedding right after. I had a solid week of work and meeting (yuck). And that is how it got to be October already. Ellie had a blast at Disney. She was so excited to be going. I was so glad we were able to take her again. A lot of people have told me "she won't remember it" and "You really should wait until she is older" But you know, in her eyes, its real. All of it. She thinks the whole place is full of magic and sunshine, all the time. It is a toddler's perfect world. And life is too short to just keep waiting. She may not remember it forever, but I sure will.

Ellie insists she is going to be Alice in wonderland this year. Never mind that she could be a princess, so I could reuse my costume I bought. Never mind that she looks NOTHING like Alice. " I'm GOING to be Alice." period. End of discussion. Fine, whatever.

We've Moved!

I know its been a long time since I've posted. August was incredably busy. We sold the house and moved in with Matt's parents on Labor day. We had packing and storing and painting to do before we left. And my work has been very busy, so I was not able to take any time off. We are finally getting setteled in for the time being. The house should be done 2 days after christmas, so we are looking forward to that. Also we are leaving for our (much needed) vacation in 2 days!! So more after we visit the happiest place on earth!

I do have a special request though. Our friends Ryan and Jodi finally were able to become pregnant with twins after a lot of extensive help. Last week, Logan and Olivia Glunt were born at 23 weeks gestation. They are just over a pound and are struggling to stay alive. When you are saying your prayers, please keep Logan and Olivia in them. They are just precious babies, and we continue to hope and pray every moment for them.

We are MOVING!

Sorry its been awhile. I will post again soon. We sold the house and have been in frantic packing/storing mode. We move next weekend to the in-laws until our house is done, which is right around Christmas. Vacation is the week after we move, and I need it bad!! We are going to Disney (suprise for Ellie- DON'T BLAB!) for a week. I am glad it all worked out this way, because Matt and I both agree, we seriously need a vacation!

The Lake

We went for a long weekend to Lake of the Ozarks with my family and my grandparents this past weekend. Ellie had a blast! She loved swimming in the lake, and going on the jet ski with her daddy. (really slow of course!) She got to play minature golf for the very first time and she thought she was pretty big stuff! She has now decided that she wants a baby brother. I think she is just wanting any sort of baby these days! We can't go to Target without a trip through the baby section, and picking out things. "My baby brother needs that swing. My baby brother needs that lovey. When my babybrother gets bigger, I'm going to teach him how to swing/play games/swim, etc" I don't know how else to tell her she's not getting any baby brother (or sister) She keeps insisting, "Yes I am, in September" Somebody has a rude awakening come September.

Our House

Well, we did it finally! We put the house on the market on Monday! Saturday Matt and I signed the contract to build our new house. It will probably be done the week of Christmas! We'll post pictures when there is something to post, but for now, that is our big news!
Ellie has recovered very well from her surgery. She sleeps so much better these days. She is excited about having a new house, and wants to paint her room pink. I gotta go to bed now, so more tomorrow. We busted our rears this weekend to get it ready to go for monday, and Matt and I dead tired.

Progress

So, this would be the child who had her tonsils out 5 days ago. You sure wouldn't know it by looking at her. She just doesn't understand that we are holding her hostage to avoid dangerous complications of tonsillectomies. Nope, its all "My throat doesn't hurt,""I'm not sick anymore," "I just wanna go outside for a few minutes." I am breaking out all the suprises I have, but we are getting along. She is doing so much better every day, and we can see just how much sleep she has been losing now that she is actually getting a decent night's sleep. So we are watching the princess movie for the 500th time, and coloring.
She saw a picture of a friend of mine's babies. They just had twin boys. She just smiled at the pictures and said "awww, I want two baby sisters. That would be great!" Yeah, that would be just great, for someone else!

No More Tonsils Part Two

Here are the pictures that I promised. There is a before and after. As you can see, she wasn't too thrilled once she found out what "surgery" actually meant. She is doing well, however. She was eating pancakes when she got home and has been drinking well. She is taking all her medicine like a big girl, and has not once cried, not in the hospital, or a home. She is playing with all her new toys and watching an endless amount of movies. Her and mommy are just hanging out around the house. She can't go back to school for 2 weeks, so I guess we probably will watch every Disney movie ever made. But she is so much better already. She is sleeping more soundly than she has in a very long time. And she already doesn't snore! No more choking on her food and no more choking in her sleep. I think we will all sleep much better.

No More Tonsils!

Well, Ellie had her surgery yesterday. She did just great! She came out of the recovery room sitting up and looking very suprised at things. She got to be on mommy's floor for a few hours, and of course, they spoiled her rotten! She slept very good last night, and today is resting and watching movies. I will post a picture later tonight after she is in bed, but just wanted to say that she did fine!

The Verdict

Well, its official. Miss Ellie will be getting her tonsils out next week, on the 20th. She has had obstructive sleep apnea for awhile, but it has gotten much worse since she was sick last February. We went to the preop party yesterday, and she got to see where they do surgery. She is actually quite excited about "getting surgery" (we'll see how she is when it's all done!) She'll be in the hospital most of the day, then out of commission for a few weeks. I had to sign her up for a different ice skating lessons, because she just loves it. Today she did much better, she pushed her little walker all around the ice and just showed her stuff!!

Matt is working to get the slide shows able to be viewed. There is something set up different that he is fixing. I'll post when they are able to be viewed.

Ice Skating Lessons

A while back, I told Ellie that, now that she had turned 3, she would be able to take a big girl class. So I asked her, do you want to take dance or gymnastics? Her response " I want to take ice skating lessons." Ice skating? Where in the world did she come up with that. Well, she absolutly insisted that this is what she was going to do. Which is how we ended up at the Ice Midwest center this afternoon. She went out on the rink and just loved it. (That's her, the short one in the purple with the old lady walker.) Mommy and Daddy were only allowed to watch through the window this time, so I will try to get a better picture next week. She is so proud of herself and can't wait to go again. Although she spent the majority of the time in front of the mirror watching herself! (and fixing her hair, of course!)

Our first post

Ellie and I have decided to join the wide world of blogging. We have decided to do this so our family and friends that live far away can join us on Ellie's everyday adventures. Also, as Ellie's mommy, I want to have a place to share and remeber all the crazy things she says and comes up with. We want to share our pictures and slideshows with everyone. We are so excited to give this a try and see how this works out for us!
