A Little Accident

Before the "incident" we were having such a good time.

Just swinging and playing outside on a beautiful day...

Ellie giving me the "get out from in front of the TV" look

And now I am interrupting Pet Shop playing

Yeah, those darn monkey bars finally got us! Or as Ellie told the Urgent Care, the ER and everyone in between, "My mommy was trying to teach me to fall on my feet. And she didn't catch me and I fell on my arm instead." Nice. Rub a little salt in the wound there, chickie.
As soon as she fell, we could tell it was broken. It was obviously deformed. Me, trying to be optimistic, took her to the UCC. We went straight back, past all the hacking people that had been there for two hours. They took an xray, took one look, and sent us straight downtown to the ER to see the Orthopedic surgeon. My poor girl was so good, getting her IV, getting put to sleep so they could reduce the fracture, and getting casted. She only cried for a minute when they put in the IV, otherwise she was just as good as gold the entire time. They put an ugly surgery cast on, huge and all the way up to her armpit. Since she broke both bones, and one was displaced, they didn't want to take any chances with it shifting. We go back to ortho on tuesday, where we should get a much prettier cast that is waterproof (thank goodness!) and we are hoping they'll do a short arm cast this week too.
She is doing pretty good. Enjoying being waited on hand and foot. This afternoon she is up a bit more, with her sling on, playing computer and blowing bubbles outside. We don't yet know the fate of T-ball or dance. We find out tuesday. Here's hoping we are not laid up too long!
