Well, we survived our first week home. Kailey is doing well. She is sleeping quite a bit at night which is helping out a lot. She seems to be a pretty content little girl, although she can be rather demanding when she needs to be. Ellie is absolutly in love with her baby. She talks to her and sings to her. She has to give her kisses and hugs all the time. She trys to play with the toys with her, and is having a hard time understanding why Kailey won't play back. She is very petite. I don't know where all 6 lb, 14 oz are, because she is just so small. Ellie was a few ounces bigger than her, and I don't remember that she was too small for the car seat. I've got washrags stuffed in there to make it fit. Or too little for preemie diapers and clothes. They were the same length too. Kailey is just built more petite than Ellie was, I guess. Kailey has regained her birth weight at her one week checkup, which is great. Ellie took a few weeks to do that. She is a pretty good eater. Ellie is currently in some phase that, if it doesn't look or act like a chicken nugget, it's probably not worth eating.
I apologize to all our friends that we didn't call when we were in the hospital. We called no one, honestly, except our parents. We had a rough delivery, and Matt and I were just exhausted. It was all we could do to have our families visit, let alone a bunch more people. And Kailey had a rather rough first day. She spent a lot of it in the nursery being poked and prodded, and suctioned and warmed up, that she wasn't really up to visitors either. She would just cry when she came back to us, or sleep. But we are all so much better and ready to see you all and show off our baby!
Matt has changed roles a bit in his work and is working from home for the next couple months. I don't know how long, or how this will work out, but the girls and I are glad that Daddy is going to be home so much while I am on maternity leave :)
more later....
